Child safety standards

Last updated: August 2026

Worldseas has a zero-tolerance approach to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page sets out our published standards, the reporting channels available to users, and the action we take on every report.

1. Our commitment

Worldseas is a community platform for the yachting and maritime world. Any form of child sexual abuse or exploitation is strictly prohibited, without exception and regardless of context. These standards apply across all of our surfaces: public chat channels, private messaging, the community feed, the forum, events, services and profiles, on the website as well as in the mobile apps.

2. Prohibited conduct and content

The following are prohibited, without this list being exhaustive:

  • Producing, holding, soliciting, distributing or promoting child sexual abuse material (CSAM), whether real, edited or artificially generated.
  • Grooming, meaning any attempt to build trust with a minor for sexual purposes.
  • Sextortion and any form of sexual blackmail targeting a minor.
  • Sexually soliciting a minor, or attempting to arrange a meeting for that purpose.
  • Sexualising a minor, including through text, images, emoji, usernames or profile descriptions.
  • Trafficking, exploiting or facilitating contact for sexual purposes involving a minor.
  • Trivialising, glorifying or promoting any of the above.

These prohibitions apply to published content and to private conversations alike.

3. Minimum age

Registration on Worldseas is restricted to people aged 16 and over, in accordance with our terms of use. Any account identified as belonging to someone below the required age is closed.

4. Reporting content or behaviour

Reporting is available to every user, from the website as well as from the iOS and Android apps:

  • A “Report” button is available on every message, post, comment and profile.
  • A report can also be sent directly to our point of contact by email, without holding an account.
  • Reports relating to child safety are handled as the absolute priority, ahead of every other report type.

No report made in good faith exposes its author to any sanction.

5. How we act on reports

When we receive a report relating to child safety:

  • The content is reviewed by our moderation team as quickly as possible.
  • Any content breaching these standards is removed from the platform.
  • The account behind the content is suspended or permanently closed.
  • The necessary evidence (content, metadata, connection logs) is preserved for evidentiary purposes, in accordance with applicable law.
  • The facts are reported to the competent authorities, including the PHAROS platform in France, and to NCMEC where applicable law provides for it.

Automated detection complements human moderation on public surfaces.

6. Legal compliance

Worldseas complies with applicable child protection legislation, including the European Digital Services Act (DSA — EU 2022/2065) and French law. These standards are reviewed regularly and updated as the legal framework and distribution platform requirements evolve.

7. Point of contact

For any question about these standards, or to report a situation involving the safety of a minor, write to our dedicated point of contact: contact@worldseas.com. This address is also the one to be used by competent authorities and distribution platforms.

If a minor is in immediate danger, contact your country's emergency services without delay (112 in the European Union).
